Broward Takes Close Match Over Tampa
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (4-7) tennis team dropped a 5-4 match to visiting Broward College (4-2) on Saturday at the UT Tennis Complex.
The Spartans took a 2-1 lead after winning a pair of doubles contests. The number-one team of Meg Wladimirski and Lauren Hewett took a tie-break to win on the main court, 9-8. The tiebreaker went in UT's favor by a 7-4 margin.
The number-three doubles team of Thashia Garcia and Briana Ryan was also victorious, 8-3.
Broward took four of the six singles matches, with UT's wins coming from Garcia at number-one and Jenelle Morgan from the six slot.
Tampa returns to the court on Tuesday when it plays host to West Virginia State University at 3 p.m.
