Spartans Turn Away Nationally-Ranked Chestnut Hill
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 26 University of Tampa (6-2) tennis team notched a 7-2 victory over No. 46 Chestnut Hill College (12-6) on Monday at the Naimoli and Young Complex.
The Spartans started strong with a clean sweep of doubles play. Meg Wladimirski and Lauren Hewett took the number-one match as Kelsey Matthews and Lindsay Nochowicz won at two while Thashia Garcia and Chloe Pereira claimed a 9-7 win at three.
Hewett led the way in single action as she won at number-two. Nochowicz claimed the number-three event as Kelsey Matthews and Jenelle Morgan won at five and six respectively.
Tampa returns to the court on Wednesday when it hosts No. 13 Saint Leo University in Sunshine State Conference play. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
