Spartans Drop Season-Opener to Powerhouse Lynn
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 22 University of Tampa (0-1) tennis team fell by a 6-3 score to No. 6 Lynn University (2-0) in a Sunshine State Conference battle at the Naimoli and Young Family Tennis Complex.
Following doubles play, where Lynn took a 3-0 lead, a rain delay that lasted nearly six-hours followed. Play would resume around 7 p.m.
In singles, the Spartans won the matches in the bottom half of the lineup. Lindsay Nochowicz, Kelsey Matthews and Katherine Pyne were each victorious in straight sets.
The Spartans are back on the court on Thursday in a non-conference match versus Southeastern University (Fla.). The contest is scheduled for 3 p.m.
