Spartans Take Thriller Over No. 15 Florida Tech
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 22 University of Tampa (2-3, 1-3 SSC) tennis team took a 5-4 victory over No. 15 Florida Tech (2-3, 0-3 SSC) in a thrilling Sunshine State Conference match from the Naimoli and Young Family Tennis Complex.
Tampa took one of the three doubles matches, as the number three team of Kelsey Matthews and Katherine Pyne came away with an 8-6 victory.
In singles, the Spartans won four of the six matches as number-six Jenelle Morgan won the deciding match with a three-set victory of 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
The Spartans also won the three, four and five singles matches from Viviana Tedino (7-6, 6-2), Matthews (6-0, 6-1) and Pyne (6-3, 6-0).
Tampa next travels to Saint Leo on Monday for a 3 p.m., meeting with the Lions.
