No. 8 Saint Leo Defeats Spartans in SSC Meeting
SAINT LEO, Fla. - The No. 22 University of Tampa (2-4, 1-4 SSC) tennis team dropped a 7-2 match to No. 8 Saint Leo University (3-3, 2-2 SSC) on Monday at the Saint Leo Tennis Complex.
The No. 22 ranked doubles team of Lauren Hewett and Meg Wladimirski gave the Spartans a victory in doubles play, defeating the top SLU duo by a score of 8-4.
UT won its other match at the No. 4 singles position as Kelsey Matthews won by default. After dropping the first set 6-0, Matthews came back to take the second 6-4 as her opponent withdrew in the deciding set.
Tampa returns to action on Thursday at home against SSC opponent and No. 9 Rollins College. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m., at the Naimoli & Young Family Tennis Complex.
