Spartans Pick Up Regional Victory Over PBA
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 23 University of Tampa (9-6) tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory over No. 38 and NCAA South Region opponent Palm Beach Atlantic University (13-6) on Sunday at the Naimoli & Young Family Tennis Complex.
Tampa grabbed control of the match, winning all three doubles contests. The top team of Lauren Hewett and Meg Wladimirski prevailed 8-6, followed by wins from Thashia Garcia and Viviana Tedino at two and Kelsey Matthews and Alexandra Bologno at three. The winning scores of those matches were 8-2 and 8-4.
In singles, UT secured the team win as the four, five and six matches each went their way. Tedino pulled out a three-set victory, as Matthews and Jenelle Morgan each won in straight sets.
Tampa returns to action on Wednesday at home against Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Southern College. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
