Spartans Fall in SSC Matchup With Florida Southern
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 23 University of Tampa (9-7, 1-6 SSC) women's tennis team returned to action in Sunshine State Conference play and fell by a 7-2 score to No. 10 Florida Southern College (11-3, 2-2 SSC) on Wednesday at the Naimoli & Young Family Tennis Complex.
Doubles play involved a pair of closely contested matches along with an easy FSC victory from the number-three match. In the one and two matches, FSC prevailed as they ended 9-7 and 8-6 respectively.
In singles, UT took a pair from the number five and six courts. Kelsey Matthews won 6-3, 6-0 and Jenelle Morgan took a 6-0, 2-6, 11-9 win to give the Spartans a pair of victories.
The Spartans are back in action in their 11th straight home match as they welcome Florida State College at Jacksonville on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The match is the final home contest of the season and will represent senior day for UT.
