Hawaii Trip Ends in Memorable Fashion for UT Tennis
UT enjoyed all-around team success in its spring break trip.
WAIPAHU, Hawaii - In its second and final match of the week-long spring break trip to Hawaii, the University of Tampa (4-2) tennis team cruised past Division I opponent Chaminade University (0-7) with an 8-1 victory.
The highlight of the match was the school's second-even "golden set," coming from freshman Lauriane Cardot at number six singles. Cardot played a perfect set, where she won all points. She would ultimately win 6-0, 6-0.
UT started the match with wins in all three doubles matches. Kristen Mee and Emily Hewland won 8-4 in the number-one match, as the two team of Maddie Stephens and Danielle Beyes and the thre team of Cameron Moskol and Gianna Pinasco both triumphed by an 8-1 score.
Joining Cardot with singles victories were Hewland at number two, Beyes at three, Pinasco at four and freshman Bridgett Blowe at five. Beyes, Pinasco and Blowe also won 6-0, 6-0 in their respective matches.
The Spartans will return to action at home on Monday versus Minnesota State-Moorhead at 3 p.m. The match marks the first of five straight at the Naimoli & Young Tennis Complex.
