Tampa Splits Weekend at Pair of Meets

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track teams were in action over the weekend, sending runners to the North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville and the Raleigh (N.C.) Relays.
At the Raleigh Relays, UT had a pair of runners in the women's 5,000. Senior Chantalle Blundell led the Spartans with an 85th-place finish and time of 18:37.44. Junior Claudia Cancello followed 91st after logging a time of 18:57.75.
At the University of North Florida, Tampa's women had one runner in the 800 meter run as Caitlin Whetstone was 21st at 2:24.35.
In the 1,500 meter run, Kayla Sullivan was 20th (4:54.96). Elaina Cancello turned in a third-place effort in the women's 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:07.85. Aimee Epps placed 27th at 19:25.29.
The men's 5,000 meter run saw Mitch Arnold finish 24th at 15:58.35. In the 800 meter run, Jessie Boria was 11th (1:56.51) as Scott Billings was 23rd (1:48.62). Eddie Keenan represented UT in the 1,500 meter run as he was 22nd with a time of 4:12.57.
The Spartans have a quick turnaround as they travel to Gainesville for a Thursday competition at the Florida Relays.
