Top-Ranked Spartans Earn Clean Sweep on the Road
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - In the first road match during the month of October, the number one ranked University of Tampa Spartans (24-1, 11-0 SSC) continued its impressive play Saturday, when they swept the Nova Southeastern Sharks (22-8, 8-4 SSC).
The Spartans used the momentum from last night's victory over Florida Tech and was able to start. Tampa never trailed in game one in route to a 30-24 victory. The Spartans continued to fire on all cylinders, never trailing in the entire match on their way to impressive 30-15, and 30-21 wins, in games two and three.
Tampa used a balanced offensive attack to lead them to victory. Erin Clark once again led Tampa with 11 kills. Melissa Vanderhall added 10, while Danielle MacDonald and Alisha Green chipped in nine a piece.
Senior Margeaux Sinibaldi led all Spartans with 21 digs for the evening. Katelen Dixon added 14 digs of her own. Setter Gabriela Saade led the way with 42 assists.
The Spartans continue SSC play when they travel to Lakeland to
face their bitter rival, the Moccasins of Florida Southern, as the
Spartans look to clinch at least a share of the SSC title with a
victory.
