#2 Tampa Finishes Regular Season with Win, League Title
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The second-ranked University of Tampa volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-1 victory over host Lynn University. The Spartans enter the NCAA tournament with an overall record of 28-2 after finishing Sunshine State Conference play at 15-1. The Fighting Knights, who will most likely receive an NCAA bid as well, are 21-11 and 7-9 in league action.
The Spartans, who squeaked out a 31-29 game one victory, found the match even after the Knights won game two by a 30-25 score. UT rebounded to register a pair of 30-28 wins in the third and fourth games to clinch the match.
Erin Clark finished the regular season in similar fashion to the rest of the year, recording a team-high 29 kills with a .411 hitting percentage. Alisha Green contributed 16 kills as Katelen Dixon had 12. Gabriela Saade saw the majority of duties at setter, finishing with a game high 60 assists.
Margeaux Sinibaldi had her sixth consecutive 20-plus dig effort, finishing with 22. Dixon, who also had 22, finished with a double-double.
Danielle MacDonald led a Spartan front line with six total blocks as Green added five. The Spartans outhit the Knights .190 to .138 for the evening.
Tampa now awaits word on the site of next week's NCAA South Regional. The field will be unveiled on Monday at 9 a.m., and will be available through a webcast at www.NCAAsports.com.
