#9 Tampa Handles Florida Tech On Senior Day
TAMPA, Fla. - The ninth ranked University of Tampa (24-4, 11-3) volleyball team took down SSC opponent Florida Tech (20-13, 4-11) 3-0 on Senior Day.
In the first set, the Spartans were led by freshman Eva Dupay who came off the bench to record five kills, as UT went on to win 25-21. The second set saw the same score in favor of Tampa and they finished the match strong by taking the third set 25-18.
Senior Danielle MacDonald was Tampa's leading point scorer as she tallied a team high nine kills and added four total blocks. Melissa Vanderhall added eight kills while Kaleigh Cunningham, Annalea Warren and Dupay had six kills each.
The Spartan defense was led by Senior Camila Saade as she was the only Spartan to register double figures in digs with 12. Florida Tech held the edge in total team digs as they finished with 35 as opposed to Tampa's 32.
Gabriela Saade had a team high 19 assists as she helped the Spartans to a .355 hitting percentage. The Panthers were held to just a .237 mark.
Tampa will be back in action Wednesday as they take on Eckerd
College at 7 p.m. in the final home game of the regular season. UT
