Meghan Sherman Signs Professional Contract With Hungarian Team
BEKESCSABA, Hungary - Former University of Tampa volleyball player Meghan Sherman has agreed to a contact with the BRSE club, which is located in Bekescsaba, Hungary.
"We are very excited that Meghan Sherman is able to fulfill her dream of playing professional volleyball in Europe," says head coach Chris Catanach. "Her success is a tribute to her hard work, the training we provide in our program, and the competition level in the Sunshine State Conference. We wish her well."
Sherman, a native of Ponte Vedra, Fla., played for the Spartans from 2007-10 and most recently guided UT to the NCAA Division II national championship match. She was on four NCAA tournament teams and won four Sunshine State Conference championships as the setter for Tampa.
She concluded her career with 3,408 assists in 127 matches. She also registered 63 service aces, 689 digs and 146 total blocks. A two-time first-team AVCA All-American (2009-10), Sherman also earned first-team all-South Region twice while beings a first-team all-SSC choice in 2010.
Sherman has earned a spot in the UT career record books, ranking fifth in assists, eighth in assists per set (8.67) and first in serve percentage (.941). She is also fifth in single-season assist percentage with a .502 showing in 2009.
