Imperiale's Florida Wave Takes PVL Championship
UT assistant volleyball coach Brian Imperiale led the Florida Wave to a 3-0 win over the Iowa Ice in the Premier Volleyball League championship in Orlando.
ORLANDO, Fla. – In just his second season at the helm of the Florida Wave, University of Tampa volleyball assistant coach Brian Imperiale captures the Premier Volleyball League 2016 Championship. The Wave toppled the Iowa Ice by set scores of 25-20, 29-27 and 25-23 to take the first PVL title for the program after two silver medals in 2014 and 2013.
"I want to thank Steve Bishop and the Florida Region for giving our staff and players the opportunity to put this group together," said Florida Wave head coach Imperiale. "We had a really deep team this year and you have to credit the players for being so unselfish and coming together so quickly. The competition level of the PVL gets better every year so to win the tournament was just an awesome experience, especially as the host region."
This is the second season that Imperiale has led the Florida Wave, claiming its first PVL championship in just the second season under his guidance.
Joining Imperiale on his staff was fellow UT assistant coach Kaylee Koetter and former middle blocker Jessica Wagner.
