Tampa Opens Postseason Play Against Lynn
The Spartans drew the three-seed in the NCAA D-II South Region Tournament, meeting six-seeded Lynn for a noon matchup on Dec. 1st.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The field is set for the 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball South Region Tournament with the No. 23 University of Tampa volleyball team drawing the sixth-seeded Lynn University to open postseason play.
The Matchup: No. 23 University of Tampa (22-8) vs. Lynn University (20-10)
• AVCA and D2CCA All-South Region selection Allee Stelogeannis anchors a young Spartan team that will make the NCAA South Region Tournament for the 21st-consecutive season. The senior has 457 kills and 390 digs and is one of the most rounded offensive weapons in Division II.
• The South Region Tournament will once again be hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic, as the Sailfish have drawn the top-seed in the region for the second-consecutive season.

Last Time Out: The two squads split the regular season series, as both teams won on their home court. Tampa swept Lynn at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center while the Fighting Knights took a 3-1 decision in the de Hoernle Center. Senior Stelogeannis led the charge for Tampa in the 3-0 win at home, as the outside hitter notched a double-double with 16 kills and 13 digs, adding a pair of solo blocks while hitting at an even .500 attack percentage in the sweep. Libero Logan Holanchock provided stalwart defense with 17 digs. In the 3-1 decision at Lynn University, Tampa fell short as middle blocker Lydia West provided a 19-kill assault at a staggering .533 clip to lead the Fighting Knights. Outside hitter Cristina Llorens added 15 kills at a .378 hitting percentage to round out the Lynn offense. Stelogeannis totaled a match-high 23 kills, tying her career-best effort but UT was unable to overcome the swift-swing of West.
About the Spartans: Stelogeannis is first on the team with kill and ranks second in digs. The Ocala, Fla. native has 19 double-doubles this season. Freshman Katie McKiel is second in kills with 268 while opposite hitter Gen Beaumier has 191.
About the Fighting Knights: Lynn is paced by All-South Region setter Marissa Tandron, as the senior leads the region in assists per set with 11.53, posting 1,326 total assists across 115 sets. West is the leading attacker for the Fighting Knights, notching 354 kills at a .296 attack percentage.
All-Time Series: Tampa owns the all-time series against Lynn with a 39-2 overall record and 2-0 all-time in postseason play. The two squads last met in the South Region in the 2010 regional semifinal match where UT took a 3-0 sweep.
Tickets: Tickets can be purchased daily for $8 for adults. Students with a valid school ID as well as senior citizens will be admitted for $5 per day. Children under 8 will be admitted free.
Parking: Visitor parking is available in the parking lots surrounding the Greene Complex. There is a designated bus/van parking lot for teams a 1/2 block from the Greene Complex.
