Tampa Takes Team Title at USF Cross Country Relays
Tampa, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's cross country teams both took their respective titles at the USF Cross Country Relays to open the 2006 season. The event consisted of relay teams including two individuals running two miles apiece.
On the men's side, Tampa was paced by the team of David Forry (10:22) and Anthony Nicolosi (10:38), who finished third overall. A total of five Spartan men finished the race within 11 minutes as Scott Cohen (10:36), Chris Catanach (10:45) and Jeremy Lautzenheiser (10:51) joined Forry and Nicolosi on the list.
Laura Woznicki (11:46) posted the top time for the Tampa women, teaming with freshman Paige Williams (12:10) to finish first in the women's race. The top three teams for Tampa all posted times under 13-minutes as Sarah Nelson (12:33), Dara Fox (12:44), Erin Heeder (12:55) and Michelle Gabrielle (12:35) also registered top times.
The Spartans return to action next Friday when they host the UT Early Bird Classic. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm at Brandon Trails.
