The Tampa Rundown
A look at the athletic events happening this week.
ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week five different programs ended their 2018 seasons. Beach Volleyball closed the book on the program's inaugural season, defeating SSC rival, the Florida Southern Moccasins, 4-1. The men's golf team wrapped up its season, finishing in the top ten at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, while rowing also competed at the SSC Championships where they took home fourth place. The No. 16 Tampa women's lacrosse team, lost to the Florida Tech Panthers, 20-8 in the SSC semifinals. This loss ended the teams season with an overall record of 12-6, the best overall record in program history. The last team to end wrap up their 2018 season was the softball team. The Spartans swept the series over the Eckerd Tritons, winning 3-2, 3-1, and 2-0 respectively. Also, last week, the No. 9 men's lacrosse team won their fifth consecutive SSC Tournament Championship. The Spartans defeated the No. 5 Saint Leo Lions by a final score of 8-6. Finally, the baseball team swept Rollins over the weekend, defeating the Tars 10-1 on Friday, before winning 7-1 and 7-3 on Saturday respectively.
This Week's Events:
Men's and Women's Track:
Both the men's and women's track teams will travel to Tallahassee, Florida on Friday, May 4th to compete at the FSU Twilight Meet. Races will take place throughout the entirety of the day.
Baseball:
The No. 2 baseball team will travel to St. Petersburg, Florida where they will play against the Eckerd College Tritons. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., while on Saturday the doubleheader will take place at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. respectively.
