Tampa Places 129 Student-Athletes on SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll
Record number achieve 3.2-plus GPA during playing season.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – A record 1,142 student-athletes are named to the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll, announced Friday by Commissioner Ed Pasque. A total of 177 student-athletes carried a perfect 4.00 grade-point average for the semester.
The University of Tampa placed a total of 129 student-athletes on the list, including 15 who achieved a perfect 4.0 GA during their respective playing season.
This spring's numbers break the previous SSC Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll records of 1,039 student-athletes honored and 168 perfect grade-point averages, which were set in 2016.
To be eligible for the Spring SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade- point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, baseball, and softball are eligible for the spring honor roll.
Having won 102 Division II National Championships, the SSC's student-athletes have also proven to be successful in the classroom. For the seventh consecutive year, the SSC boasts an Academic Success Rate of 86 percent. The mark ranks first among all NCAA Division II conferences.
Sunshine State Conference provisional members, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Palm Beach Atlantic University, had a combined 143 student-athletes who met the standard for the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
