University of Tampa NIL Guidelines
Student-athletes at the University of Tampa are permitted to earn compensation for their name, image or likeness (NIL). Below is helpful information for student-athletes, supporters of UT Athletics and employees of The University of Tampa relative to the Florida State Law and name, image, likeness.
• All NIL deals (including paid, unpaid or in-kind) can be reported to UTampa through the NIL reporting form, which is located within your INFLCR account. This disclosure is not intended to be an approval process.
• The University of Tampa has also partnered with INFLCR for content and brand metric management.
• Student-athletes in the state of Florida may earn compensation for use of their name, image or likeness (NIL) without affecting their athletics eligibility or grant-in-aid. Student-athletes earning NIL compensation must do so in accordance with the Florida NIL Law (Section 1006.74, Florida Statutes).
• Use of UTampa trademarks and logos (including all aspects of team uniforms and team-issued gear) for NIL activities can only occur after obtaining a written agreement from the University of Tampa.
• Use of campus facilities or grounds for NIL activities requires written authorization from UTampa. Commercial film or photography requires additional approval from the Office of Athletic Communications. Authorized use may necessitate additional requirements, including certification of insurance, payment of applicable rental fees, etc.
• Student-athletes should fully evaluate any potential consequences to their personal brand before engaging in NIL activities.
• Any agent used for NIL purposes must hold a valid license as an athletic agent.
• All international student-athletes should consult with the UT Office of International Programs or an immigration attorney before entering into an NIL compensation agreement to protect against any potential immigration issues.
• Eligibility for Pell Grant and all other forms of need-based financial aid could be impacted by the receipt of NIL compensation. Questions should be directed to the UTampa Office of Financial Aid.
• Please be aware that your NIL activities may have personal tax implications. These obligations are dependent upon individual circumstances and may require consultation with a tax professional.
If you have specific questions, please contact the office of compliance.
