Bio

Nolan Brannon, a 2008 alum and former baseball Spartan standout, is in his seventh year as the equipment manager.

Brannon spent two years as an assistant baseball coach at his alma mater, following a professional baseball career. The former Los Angeles Angels minor-leaguer spent a pair of seasons in professional baseball as he also played in the Class A system of the Washington Nationals.

As a senior at UT, Brannon was a second-team all-Sunshine State Conference selection. He was also named Daktronics and ABCA/Rawlings second-team all-South Region, NCAA South Regional all-tournament team and the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Brannon finished his senior season with a .364 batting average along with five home runs and 49 RBI. While starting 52 of 53 games, he also scored 46 runs with 12 doubles while leading the squad to a NCAA South Regional title and appearance in the NCAA Division II Championships in Sauget, Ill.

As a junior, he was a member of the 2007 NCAA Division II national championship team. Brannon earned second-team all-SSC honors as a DH and was the top first baseman on the South Regional all-Tournament team.

He finished tied for fifth on the team with 46 RBI. Defensively, he did not make an error all season at first base in 208 chances. He finished the season with a .368 average to go with three home runs while starting 45 of 51 games.

Brannon spent the summer of 2007 in the Valley League where he was named Valley League Player of the Week for the week of June 19. He was also a Valley League all-star while making the all-Valley League team as a DH.

Prior to UT, he attended Hillsborough Community College for two seasons. He was named HCC’s MVP in 2005 and was also an all-conference selection in 2005. Brannon was also named the Offensive Player of the Year in 2006 and Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2006.

A team captain and team co-MVP at St. Petersburg High in 2003 and 2004, he was also an all-conference member from 2002-04. He concluded the season as a St. Petersburg Times all-county team member in both 2003 and 2004.

Brannon comes from a baseball family where his older brother Evan played in the Baltimore Orioles organization. His younger brother Dale also played baseball at UCONN.

He graduated from the University of Tampa with a degree in business management. Brannon also earned a masters degree from the University of Phoenix.
