TAMPA, Fla. – The Spartans take the opener of the series against the Sailfish in dominating fashion.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Haden Erbe's day was done after seven scoreless on the mound for the Spartans. With two outs in the bottom of the 5th, the Spartans tacked on five runs, sparked by a Dan Sullivan single. Jamarcus Lyons later in the inning hit his third blast of the year, that extended the Spartans lead | 5-0 Tampa. Tampa got three more in the 7th to make it | 8-0 Tampa. The Sailfish scratch one back in the top half of the 8th | 8-1 Tampa. Tampa soldified the win in the bottom half of the 8th with four runs, led by an Adam Hunt double to right-center | FINAL: 12-1 Tampa.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Erbe goes 7.0 IP, 9 K's, and only three hits allowed.
- Sullivan and Cumbo both collected three hits.
