
No. 1 Tampa Completes Sweep Over PBA With Pair of Blowout Wins
TAMPA, Fla. - The top-ranked University of Tampa baseball team swept the doubleheader and ultimately the series against their Sunshine State Conference opponents, the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game One):
In the bottom of the first, E.J. Cumbo started Tampa's long day of offense with a double to centerfield, scoring Jordan Lala. Cumbo later came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Dan Sullivan. | 2-0 Tampa. In the Bottom of the third, Drew Ehrhard drove in Nicholas Winkelmeyer with a sacrifice fly to right field. Next, Cumbo scored Lala on a single to center. Two batters later, J.D. Urso cashed in on a single to center that scored Cumbo. Jamarcus Lyons then brought home Sullivan with a sacrifice fly to center. Luke Glancy capped off the Spartans' big inning with a double to right-center field, scoring Urso and advancing Giovany Lorenzo to third, who then scored on a passed ball. | 8-0 Tampa. In the top of the fourth, Palm Beach Atlantic finally got on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly from Sean Houck that scored Davis Blair. Later in the inning, Jeff Manto brought in Jiovel Lantigua on a single to center. | 8-2 Tampa. In the bottom of the fifth, Cumbo walked with the bases loaded, scoring Winkelmeyer. | 9-2 Tampa. In the bottom of the sixth, Lyons hit a towering home run to deep left field for a solo shot. | 10-2 Tampa. In the top of the seventh. Nate Housen drove in Houck on an RBI groundout. Mikey Casaleggio then scored Manto with a double to right-center, he then came around to score on a wild pitch. | 10-5 Tampa. In the bottom of the seventh, Cumbo walked with the bags full for the second time in the game, scoring Winkelmeyer, once again. Parker Schlichte drove in Lala on a sacrifice pop-up to the second baseman on the edge of the outfield grass. Urso then singled through the left side of the infield, driving in Ehrhard. Cumbo later scored on an error by the shortstop. | 14-5 Tampa. In the top of the ninth, Manto connected on a home run to right field. Dylan Tosto then scored Housen on a single to center. Casaleggio then scored on a fielder's choice, hit by Matty Warren. Braden Forsyth closed out the final three innings of the game, earning his 4th save of the season. | 14-8 Tampa, Final.

In the bottom of the first, the Spartans picked up right where they left off by starting the scoring in game 2 with a Cumbo double, bringing in Lala. Sullivan then hit one over the right-field fence for a three-run blast, scoring Cumbo and Lyons. Winkelmeyer then singled-in Urso. | 5-0 Tampa. In the bottom of the second, Urso singled to left center, scoring Cumbo. Jose Cadenas then brought Lyons around with a single to center. | 7-0 Tampa. In the bottom of the fifth, Macallister Jorgensen doubled down the right-field line, scoring Cadenas. Winkelmeyer then scored on a wild pitch, then Jorgensen scored on a passed ball later in the inning. | 10-0 Tampa. In the bottom of the seventh, Jorgensen scored on a passed ball, once again. | 11-0 Tampa. In the bottom of the 8th, Adam Hunt scored on a wild pitch. Winkelmeyer then hit an infield single to shortstop, scoring Urso. Ehrhard hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Cadenas. | 14-0 Tampa.
