Nico Saladino Named SSC Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa infielder Nico Saladino has been named the recipient of Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the league office.
Saladino secures Player of the Week for his efforts in Tampa's road series sweep at Barry. The sophomore from Valrico, Fla., went 6-for-10 at the plate with a double and a home run, providing the Spartans with four runs scored, four walks, and six runs batted in. During the three-game set, Saladino tallied a .600 batting average, a .667 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage. He recorded at least one hit, run scored, and walk in all three games. Defensively the infielder recorded eight putouts and seven assists in 15 attempts.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 17 - 23, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
