
Another Dominating Performance For UT’s Jeremy Black in All-Star Nightcap
WADSWORTH, Ohio - Ryan Williams of Pace scored 23 points and Jeremy Black of Tampa added 20 points to lead Premier Pontiac to a third-place finish in the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational with a 102-95 win over City of Wadsworth.
Black also finished the contest with six rebounds, a team high four assists, one blocks and a steal in the winning cause. Through three games at the all-star tournament, Black has turned I three double-figure scoring efforts while averaging 20.3 points per game.
Also scoring in double figures for Premier Pontiac was Sam Belt of Central Okla. with 19, Marlon Pierce of Cal St. San B'dino with 13 points, while Rod Banks of California (Pa.) and Jerome Pierce of Notre Dame (Ohio) both chipped in with 12 points apiece. Banks, Belt and Williams all pulled down eight rebounds in the win.
Leading the way for City of Wadsworth was Scott O'Gallagher of Warner Pacific with 20 points. Glen Dandridge of Lambuth pumped in 16 points, while Robert Lee of West Tex. A&M and Michael Sturns of Holy Family both added 14 points. Ollie Bailey of Oklahoma City contributed 12 points and Tim Crowell of Ft. Lewis finished with 10 points.
The Collegiate Basketball Invitational is a major national basketball event that gathers the finest 64 senior men's basketball players from all of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and Division III and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I and Division II.
The event will take place at Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, Ohio, and each team will have eight players in eight-team bracket. Six games will be played both Thursday and Friday with the championship game being played Friday night at 8 p.m. (ET). The CBI will conclude with an all-star game Saturday evening at 8 p.m. (ET) in front of a live, ESPNU audience as 20 players will selected to play in the game.
