Spartans Set To Stop Buccaneer Invasion
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team welcomes Barry University on Saturday at the Bob Martinez Sports Center at 4 p.m. The Spartans are 8-7 and 3-4 in the Sunshine State Conference while the Buccaneers are 11-5 and 3-3 in the SSC.
The Spartans who suffered an overtime loss to Florida Southern on Wednesday, are looking to improve off of Barry's loss to SSC rival Lynn. Tampa, who was leading by 22 over the Mocs ultimately lost in overtime in this possible underdog win. Rashad Callaway led the attack with 29 points on the game while Ashton Graham earned his first start and scored a career high 21 points with seven rebounds.
Last year, Tampa overcame Barry 2-1 in their three contests, one of which was in the SSC quarterfinals. The Spartans also hold the all-time series record of 37-14 over the Bucs and have won two straight over the Bucs at home.
