Lynn Dominates Tampa in SSC Meeting
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Tampa (2-5, 0-2 SSC) men's basketball team lost its second consecutive lopsided performance as Lynn University (3-4, 1-0 SSC) handed the Spartans a 57-37 defeat in a Sunshine State Conference matchup on Saturday at the de Hoernle Center.
The Spartans trailed for the entire game as Lynn took a 34-23 lead to the half and led by as many as 21 points while controlling the game for the duration.
Jon Riles was the only Spartan in double figures as the freshman point guard scored 10 points, all coming in the first half. Brian Wright contributed nine points and a team-leading six rebounds.
Tampa was once again hindered by poor shooting, being outshot in field goals (36.0-28.6 percent), 3-point field goals (47.1-15.4 percent) and free throws (81.3-50.0 percent). UT was also outrebounded 38-30 and committed 19 turnovers.
Tampa will not play again until Sat., Dec. 17, when it faces Malone University in Lakeland, Fla., at 5:15 p.m. The game will be played at Florida Southern College. Live stats will be available through tampaspartans.com.
