UT Cruises Past PBA in Non-Conference Contest
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (15-6) men's basketball team capped a perfect week with an easy 76-61 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University (1-18) on Saturday.
After taking a five point lead to the half, the Spartans would lead by as many as 24 points in the second half in an easy victory over the Sailfish.
Anthony Griffis led a trio of Spartans scoring in double figures as the senior had 19 points. Da'Markco Foster added 14 as Vincent Cornu tallied 13 for head coach Richard Schmidt's Spartans.
Cornu registered his fourth double-double of the season as he also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. Foster and Terrell Pritchett each notched six assists while Foster and Cornu led the squad with two steals apiece.
Tampa finished with a 52.5 percent field goal clip and also outrebounded the Sailfish by a 40-31 margin.
The Spartans return to Sunshine State Conference for the second time around league play at Rollins on Wednesday. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Live stats and a webcast will be available through TampaSpartans.com.
