Mykah Brown Scores Career High in Win Over Lynn

Tampa, FL. – The University of Tampa Spartans Men's Basketball beat the Lynn Fighting Knights on Gasparilla behind Mykah Brown's 33-point performance.

Final: Tampa Spartans 83, Lynn Fighting Knights 60

Records: Tampa (7-11, 6-6 SSC), Florida Southern (4-14, 2-11 SSC)

All-Time Series: Tampa shrinks the Lynn all-time series lead to 3, 28-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

FIRST HALF 

After a made 3-pointer from Jesse White to tie the game at 4, the Fighting Knights went on a 5-0 run in under a minute. The Spartans would respond by eventually cutting the lead to 21; however, the Fighting Knights responded, and they put themselves in a 6-point cushion with less than 8 minutes remaining in the first half. Mykah Brown then responded by putting his team on his back and scored 9 points in the last 7 minutes, including taking part in a 7-0 run to end the half for the Spartans. | Score: 42-39 Spartans

SECOND HALF 

After the Spartans extended their lead to 5, they followed their good play by going on a 12-4 run to extend their lead to 13. Down 12 with 10 minutes to lead, the Knights couldn't buy a basket. Finally, they made a 3-pointer with 5 minutes left, but that was it. The Spartans closed the game out by going on a 14-3 run. | Score: 83-60 Spartans 

INSIDE THE STATS 

• Four Spartans scored double figures: Senior Mykah Brown (33), Sophomore Jesse White (14), Sophomore Tyson Leitao (11), and Senior Jonathan Bryant II (10),
• The Spartans had a 20-point difference in the second half.
• The Spartans went on an 8-0 run over 5 minutes and a 14-3 run over 9 minutes.

BEYOND THE BOX

• The Spartans lead in a field goal, free throw, and 3-point percentage.
• There were five ties and one lead change throughout the game.
• The knights lead for 13 minutes, while the Spartans lead for 21 minutes.
