Tampa Comes up Short to Florida Southern

Tampa, FL. – The University of Tampa Spartans Men's Basketball fall to the Florida Southern Mocs.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

FIRST HALF 

The Mocs opened up the game by going on a 6-2 run. Tyson Leitao and Jacob Harris scored the first 9 points for the Spartans and responded with a 7-0 run to take a 3-point lead. Florida Southern would respond by making 3 straight shots to take a 5 points lead. After a 3-ball by Jonathan Bryant II, the Mocs quickly increased their lead to 10 with another 8-0 run. The 10 point lead was kept through the rest of the first half. | Score: 43-33 Mocs

SECOND HALF 

After opening buckets for each team to open up the second half, Tampa began a 10-0 run to tie the game up at 45. After a layup by De'Andre Harvey to keep Florida Southern's lead to two with 10 minutes remaining in the game, the Mocs made 3 straight shots to go on another 8-0 run and be back up by 10 points. Harvey and Mykah Brown scored back-to-back buckets to cut the Mocs lead to 5. Tampa could not get any closer than that, and Florida Southern kept their comfortable lead, vaulting themselves to victory. | Score: 91-84 Mocs

INSIDE THE STATS 

• Four Spartans scored double figures: Sophomore Tyson Leitao (22), Sophomore De'Andre Harvey (21), Junior Jacob Harris (17), and senior Mykah Brown (16).
• The Spartans shot 54% from the field compared to the Mocs' 47%.
• Leitao achieved another double-double with 22 points and 10 boards.

• The Spartans made 11 threes compared to the Mocs 7.
