
Patton Earns SSC Player Of The Week Honors
Sophomore midfielder Alex Patton earned Sunshine State Conference Specialist of the Week Honors for the second time this season, as announced Monday via the conference office.
Melbourne, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announced it's men's lacrosse Player of the Week awards Monday afternoon via the conference office. Representing the University of Tampa was Alex Patton earning Specialist of the Week honors.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 18 - 24, 2016. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
Patton earned SSC Specialist of the Week honors for the second time this season, after putting up an outstanding performance against Rollins College last week. The West Hempstead, N.Y. native won 14 of his 22 faceoffs against the Tars producing a winning percentage 63.6. The sophomore also scooped up two groundballs in the 11-9 Spartan victory. Tampa is now 12-2 overall, 5-0 in SSC Play.
The No. 6 University of Tampa men's lacrosse team will be back in action this week as the No.1 seed and host of the SSC Championship tournament, and will face off against the Florida Southern College Mocs on Friday, April 29, at the Naimoli Family Athletic Complex. Game time is set for 8 P.M. Live stats, as well as a web broadcast, will be available for fans to follow the action via TampaSpartans.com.
