
Starr Earns First Player of the Week Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa's Alexander Starr has been named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Starr earns this honor after helping lead the Spartans to a 2-0 record this past week, including a win over #9 Adelphi.
Starr earned two victories between the pipes for Tampa over the weekend. In the game against #9 Adelphi, Starr would help hold the Panthers to just six goals, which is tied for their lowest scoring output over the past three years. In the game he collected nine saves and caused a turnover. In the game against Saint Rose, Starr would not allow any goals while he was in the cage. Starr helped the Tampa defense hold the Golden Knights to their lowest scoring output since the 2017 season.
Starr and the rest of the Spartans will be in action this Wednesday, as they host the University of Mount Olive at Pepin Stadium. This game is set to begin at 8:00 p.m.
