Gunner Gebelein Named Defensive Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa lacrosse standout defender Gunner Gebelein has been named Defensive Player of the Week by the Sunshine State Conference.
Gebelein earns Defensive Player of the Week following his play against No. 11 Seton Hill. The graduate student from Baltimore led all non-faceoff players with a game-high five groundballs. Gebelein also caused two turnovers, helping the Spartans to an 11-8 neutral-site win at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland. The weekly award is the third of his career.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 17 - 23, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
