About the Spartans: The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team comes into this matchup ranked as the No. 3 team in the nation by the USILA for the second week in a row. The Spartans have won six straight and opened Sunshine State Conference play with a win at home over Rollins College this past weekend. Graduate student-athletes, Charlie Bolesh and Alex Poma garnered SSC Player of the Week honors after their performances versus the Tars. Poma was also selected to the USILA Team of the Week. Tampa holds a sizeable advantage over Florida Southern in the all-time series but will be looking for revenge as the Spartans fell to the Mocs the last time they played. Matthew Beddow has been a key piece on defense for the Spartans since he arrived at UT and will look to impress once again in this matchup. Beddow tallied three groundballs, three caused turnovers and added one goal in Tampa's last game. If the Spartans can pull off the win at home over the Mocs, the program will continue its unbeaten streak at home this season and move to 2-0 overall in the SSC.
About the Mocs: Florida Southern heads into this matchup having beaten Tampa away from home the last time they collided. The Mocs currently sit as the No. 14 ranked team in the nation according to the USILA Poll and are 7-2 overall on the season. FSC opened the season strong knocking off Wingate away from home who at the time was ranked No. 3. The Mocs have played four ranked teams this season and have come out victorious in three of the four. Florida Southern's losses have come against Montevallo and Limestone. Maddux Walton leads the Mocs in goals (20) while Brydon Robichaud tops the team in points (28).
