Ryan Kemp and Men's Lacrosse Staff Garner Major Awards, Tampa Has 13 Players Earn All-Conference

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Forty-eight student-athletes are recognized as All-Conference in the 12th year of Sunshine State Conference men's lacrosse. Tampa's Ryan Kemp earns Offensive Player of the Year recognition, while the Spartans coaches are named Staff of the Year. Owen Wills from Saint Leo garners Defensive Player of the Year accolades, while Florida Southern's Carson Corona picks up Freshman of the Year honors.

Kemp, a senior from Fishers, Indiana, tallied 55 points from 38 goals and 17 assists with a .376 shooting percentage in 16 games for the Spartans this season. The attackman currently sits as the league leader in goals scored and is Top-3 in goals per game (2.38), points, points per game (3.44), shots (101), and shots per game (6.31). Kemp is the second consecutive Tampa player named Offensive Player of the Year after Canyon Birch won the inaugural award in 2024.

Wills, a junior from Kingston, Ontario, was chosen by league coaches as Defensive Player of the Year. The LSM is first in conference caused turnovers (34) and third in caused turnovers per game (2.13). Additionally, Wills leads all non-face-off specialists in ground balls (61) and ground balls per game (3.81). He is the first Saint Leo athlete to be named Defensive Player of the Year in men's lacrosse.

Corona, a Syracuse, New York native, is the first freshman defenseman to earn All-SSC Second Team or higher since 2019. He ranks fifth in SSC caused turnovers (22) and caused turnovers per game (1.57), 10th in SSC ground balls (40), and 13th in ground balls per game (2.86). Corona joins Matt Flammenspeck (2022) as the only Moccasins to win Freshman of the Year in men's lacrosse.

Tampa repeats as Coaching Staff of the Year recognition following the program's eighth regular-season championship, second consecutive. The Spartans staff, led by head coach JB Clarke, has piloted the program to a 16-0 overall record with a 7-0 mark in conference play. Currently ranked No. 1 in the USILA and USA Lacrosse Magazine national polls, Tampa led SSC play in scoring margin (+7.1), goals per game (14.7), assists per game (6.9), points per game (21.6), shots per game (44.3), shooting percentage (.332), shots on goal per game (26.0), goals against average (7.7), and lowest turnovers per game (14.0).

Rollins' Jack Johnstone and FSC's Jacob Czyz highlight the repeat All-SSC award winners for 2025. Both athletes return to the First Team after Third Team accolades in 2024 and First Team nods in 2023. Tampa's Michael Flores and Rollins' Charlie Metz are also three-time All-SSC honorees. Flores made the First Team in 2023 and now owns back-to-back Second Team laurels. Metz, a Third Team player in 2025, took home First Team honors in 2024 and a Second Team selection in 2023. In total, 15 athletes honored this season repeat as All-Conference.

All-conference selections and individual award winners are determined by a vote of Sunshine State Conference head coaches with oversight and approval from member institution Athletic Directors.
