George Alexander Leads Spartans to VSU Invite Win
VALDOSTA, Ga. – The University of Tampa men's cross country team opened its 2022 campaign with a first-place team finish at the Valdosta State Invitational.

- Jared Hammill | 4th overall, 23:41.9
- Sean Popik | 5th overall, 23:42.5
- Shane Cohen | 7th place, 23:51.7
- GioVenchy Cerisier | 9th place, 23:54.7
OTHER NOTABLES:
- Alexander started his sophomore campaign as the top Spartan in the event, also the meet runner-up.
- Hammill, also a sophomore, followed as the fourth-place finish represented his first collegiate top-five effort.
- A transfer from Kutztown, Cerisier cracked the UT top five in his Spartan debut.
- Head coach Dror Vaknin registered 17 runners in the event.
- Brian Veit (11), Aaron Englehardt (13), Caleb Belmont (15) and Aidan Barich (16) also cracked the top-20.
- Valdosta State's Brishen House was the individual champion with a time of 23:30.4.
- Also representing the Sunshine State Conference was Lynn, who finished fifth overall.
