Alyssa Bache Named SSC Pitcher of the Week
Bache led the Spartans to two wins over the weekend and tossed a no hitter in her performace
MELBOURNE, Fla – Senior Pitcher Alyssa Bache has been named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week after leading the University of Tampa Softball team to a 2-1 series win over the Lynn University Fighting Knights.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 21-28, 2016. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
Senior Alyssa Bache earned two wins on the weekend for the two games she started against the Fighting Knights. On Friday night, Bache went the full seven innings, allowing only four hits and one run while striking out eight and tossing two walks. On Saturday, she wrapped up the series vs Lynn with her first no hitter of the season in a complete game shutout. Bache was in control for the entire contest as she did not allow any baserunners in the first four innings of the game before surrendering a walk in the fifth inning. The right-hander finished the contest with six strikeouts.
Bache and the rest of the Spartans will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to take on Nova Southeastern University for a three game series. The first game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday.
