DeShaydia Mackey Earns SSC Player of the Week Honor

ORLANDO, Fla. - After leading The University of Tampa women's basketball team to a pair of Sunshine State Conference victories last week, DeShaydia Mackey was honored as the SSC Player of the Week, joining Florida Southern's Emer Foley as co-recipients.

The senior guard from Plant City, Fla., helped lead the Spartans to a 2-0 week in SSC play, including a key 61-58 road win at Nova Southeastern, a team with whom UT is tied atop the league standings. In the win at NSU, Mackey recorded 15 points, two rebounds, four steals, and a block. In a 67-56 victory against Florida Tech, she tallied 15 points, five rebounds, two steals, and an assist. For the week, she averaged 15.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 0.5 assists, and 0.5 blocks per game. Mackey shot 46 percent (11-of-24) from the field, 33 percent (3-for-9) from three-point range, and 63 percent (5-of-8) at the line.
