Tampa Women Capture Senior Night Victory Over Lynn
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's basketball team claimed a victory over Lynn by a score of 68-53. Lynn is now 16-11 and 7-9 in the conference as the Spartans now stand at 22-5, 13-3 in the conference.
At halftime the Spartans led 32-19 and never trailed in the second half. They shot 40.4 percent compared to Lynn's 29.7 percent for the game. UT also shot 67.7 percent from the free throw line on 21-31 shooting.
Senior Erica Woodard led UT with 19 points and 12 rebounds, which matches her season high this year while Alexa Kane added 18. Sheena Walton chipped in 14 points and 18 rebounds to lead Tampa. In the past two games, Walton has now grabbed 35 rebounds.
Walton also had eight blocks, which puts her at 110 for the season. DeShaydia Mackey had nine points, five rebounds and three assists in today's win.
This was the last game in regular play for the Spartans as they will return to action on Tuesday for the semifinals of the SSC tournament. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., against an opponent TBA.
