Tampa Drops Road Contest As Sailfish Surge Late
The Tampa Spartans fell to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish by a score of 56-65
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa Spartans hit the road to take on the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University, and dropped the road contest by a score of 65-56.
Offensively, Tampa turned in a less than stellar performance shooting 23-59 from the field and 4-17 from behind the arc. Leading all UT scorers was Ellen Nurmi, who turned in 16 points. Also tallying double-digit points for the Spartans was Angela Alvarez (14) and Juliana Cavallaro (12).
Defensively, UT put in a real team effort as every Spartan who took the floor collected a rebound; Alvarez led the way with 15 boards. Tampa also forced ten turnovers on the night. Following the loss, the Tampa falls to 8-8 on the year.
UT will return to action Saturday as they face Sunshine State Conference foe Saint Leo at the Bob Martinez Center; Tipoff is set for 2 PM ET.
