Juliana Cavallaro Earns All-Region Accolades
The senior finished her UT career as one of the program's all-time greats.
CLEVELAND, Miss. – University of Tampa women's basketball player Juliana Cavallaro was named second-team all-region by the D2CCA.
Delta State University senior guard Chelsey Rhodes was named D2CCA South Region Player of the Year to headline the 2015-16 D2CCA All-South Region Team.
Cavallaro, a senior guard from Venice, Fla., concluded her prolific career at fourth on UT's all-time scoring list with 1,560 points. As a senior, Cavallaro, led the Spartans with 15.2 points per game. She led the Spartans down the stretch, reaching double figures in 18 of thew final 19 games on the year.
Rhodes capped off a decorated career with the Lady Statesmen by earning Gulf South Conference Player of the Year honors. Kayla Wright (Nova Southeastern) the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, and Amra Elezovis (Barry University) were each named to the D2CCA All-South Region Team after becoming First Team All-SSC selection. Tiara Caldwell (Union University) and Erin Walsh (Lee University) join Rhodes from the GSC on the All-South Region Team, as the trio was named First Team All-GSC.
The All-South Region Second Team was compiled by Kelsey Risner (Union), Regime McCombs (Benedict College), Katrina Littlepage (West Georiga), Artisha Holston (Albany State University), and Cavallaro (University of Tampa). Holston and Cavallaro were both named to the 2014-15 All-South Region Second Team.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II South Region schools and conferences selected the two D2CCA All-Region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced later in the month.
