Tampa Sets SSC Wins Record to Conclude Regular-Season
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 14 University of Tampa women's basketball team completed its magical regular-season with its Sunshine State Conference record 19th league win as it topped Lynn University on Saturday afternoon.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

All-time Series: Tampa holds a 43-11 lead in the all-time series with the Fighting Knights, registering a sweep of the regular-season series between the teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Quarter | Following its senior day presentations, Lynn enjoyed a first-quarter where it led by as many as seven points. The Spartans finished the quarter on a 5-0 run, grabbing their first lead with 1:06 remaining. Melijah Sullivan and LaShayla Wright-Ponder provided 15 of the 17 points for UT, scoring eight and seven respectively. || Tampa 17, Lynn 14
2nd Quarter | The Spartans heated up in the second quarter, needing under seven minutes for their lead to balloon to 20-plus points. Tampa would shoot 71.4 percent from the field while holding the Fighting Knights to a 28.6 percent clip. UT also outrebounded Lynn 11-2 in the quarter. || Tampa 44, Lynn 24
3rd Quarter | Neither team totaled double figures in the quarter as the teams shot a combined 6-for-26 from the field. Tampa continued to dominate in the paint, outrebounding the Fighting Knight 12-6 and holding Lynn to 14.3 percent from the field on 2-of-14 shooting. || Tampa 52, Lynn 33
4th Quarter | The Spartans were 6-for-11 from the field, also connecting on a pair of 3-pointers. || Tampa 66, Lynn 46
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Sullivan led all scorers as the sophomore netted 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting. She also finished with a team-leading five assists.
- Wright-Ponder and Dori Nagy each added 16 points while Nagy also pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds.
- Aliyah Abney continued to provide a spark off the bench, scoring nine points while pulling down 10 rebounds.
- Tampa outshot its opponent 50.9 to 30.9 percent.
- UT hed a 39-23 advantage on the boards.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Nagy now has 12 double-doubles on the season, including four consecutive games.
- Head coach Tom Jessee led his Spartans to the program's sixth regular-season SSC title, and first since 2013-14.
- Tampa becomes the first team in SSC history to win 19 games in the regular season.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will begin the 2020 SSC Tournament with a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Tampa own home-court advantage for the tournament shall it win each round.
