No. 14 Spartans Extend Win Streak After Defeating UMary at the Malika Sports Thanksgiving Tournament

HILO, HI – The No.14 University of Tampa women's basketball team beat UMary in first game of the Malika Sports Thanksgiving Tournament in Hawaii.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st QUARTER

The matchup started with the Marauders opening up the scoring going on a 7-0 run. A jump shot from Sydney Kin puts the first set of points on the board for the Spartans. The Marauders held their lead for a bit before the Spartans came fighting back cutting their lead to two with under 3:00 minutes left in the first. An assisted three pointer from Mya Giusto to Kin ties the game at 17 giving Giusto her third assist of the quarter. With under a minute left, Giusto shoots a jumper to give Tampa their first lead of the quarter which is then matched by a jumper from the Marauders tying the quarter at 19. | Score: 19-19 Tie

2nd QUARTER

The Marauders starts the scoring again but its quickly matched with a jumper from Audrey Ramsey. From there, the Spartans settle into the game taking their second lead of the night, with a layup from Eleanore Marciszewski, and never looking back. Giusto gathered her fourth assist this quarter as the Spartans finished with an 11 point lead. | Score: 39-28 Tampa

3rd QUARTER

The Spartans continued their dominance into the third quarter with Giusto racking up her fifth assist of the evening resulting in a jumper from Melijah Sullivan. Tampa went on a 17-0 run extending their lead being led by Kin and her 17 points. The third quarter ended with a jumper by Giusto then a free throw from the Marauders. | Score: 67-42 Tampa

4th QUARTER

The last minutes of the game appeared like the last quarter with Tampa maintaining their lead. The Marauders continued hustling as they scored every chance they could but never getting close enough to put themselves in the lead. Two made free throws from Alani Gallagher solidifies Tampa's fifth win of the season. | Score: 88-65 Tampa
