
Sydney Kin Nets Fourth SSC Player of the Week Honor
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa women's basketball player Sydney Kin has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office.
Kin garners Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in 2022-23 following her play in a pair of conference games. The Carey, Ohio native tallied six blocks, eight defensive rebounds, and two steals in UT's 68-59 at Saint Leo. Kin returned to the floor with four defensive rebounds and three blocks in a 71-44 victory over Rollins. Kin and the Spartans held Saint Leo and Rollins to 17 and 15 points below their season scoring averages, respectively. Offensively, Kin tallied 31 points and four offensive rebounds across the two contests. The weekly award is the fourth of her career.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of January 2 - 8, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
