HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
The game started with an administrative technical being called on Embry-Riddle which resulted in Audrey Ramsey on the free throw line shooting one shot and completing it. This put Tampa up 1-0 before tipoff. Once the game officially started the Spartans went on a 7-0 run. Melijah Sullivan led the first few minutes with 6 points. The Spartans kept their distance pounding the ball in the paint forcing Embry-Riddle to take a timeout after an and-one layup from Sydney Kin. From there, they went on another 6-0 run putting them up by double-digits with just under 2 minutes left in the first quarter. A spin around floater from Sarah Jones closes out the first quarter for the Spartans with a lead of 11. Score: 21-10 (Tampa)
2nd QUARTER
Embry-Riddle begun the scoring in the second quarter, but Tampa quickly responded. Tampa then started turning the ball over resulting them experiencing a scoring drought for a few minutes. Despite this, Tampa maintained their lead with Kin and Sullivan leading the way with 10 points each. Score: 37-26 (Tampa)
3rd QUARTER
Tampa started the scoring this quarter with two made free throws from Kin. From here, Tampa continued scoring in the paint with four paint points coming from Kin and Sullivan. Embry-Riddle found some momentum capitalizing off the defensive mistakes of the Spartans. This cut Tampa's lead down to 7 with just under 3:30 left in the third. Even with the Eagles spark of energy, Tampa still managed to go on a 9-0 run to stay on top at the end of the third quarter. Score: 56-42 (Tampa)
4th QUARTER
The fourth quarter begun with Embry-Riddle scoring 4 unanswered points cutting Tampa's lead down again to 10 before choosing to take a timeout. Out of the timeout, Jones makes a shifty layup. After that, Tampa continued putting the ball in the hoop extending their lead little by little and securing their win over Embry-Riddle. Score: 72-53 (Tampa)
