Three Spartans Earn All-SSC Honors
Melbourne, Fla - The Sunshine State Conference has announced their All-Conference teams for the 2024-25 season. The University of Tampa Women's Basketball team had three of their players selected and honored as All-SSC members. Zoe Piller, Sariana Rodriguez, and Audrey Ramsey earned their spots by having excellent seasons for the Spartans.
Zoe Piller - All-SSC Defensive Team/ All-SSC First Team: The Senior from Brentwood, Tennessee had a monster year for the Spartans. She led the conference in field goal percentage (61%) and field goals made (186) which helped her average 17 points a game. Piller was also second in the conference in total points scored with 493 on the year. Defensively she was dominant in the paint, holding multiple centers across the league under their averages. When it came to owning the glass, Zoe was top five in the conference in total rebounds (218) and rebounds a game (7.5).
Sariana Rodriguez - All-SSC Second Team: The transfer Senior from Morovis, Puerto Rico came in and had an immediate positive impact on this Tampa team. Rodriguez started 29 games for the Spartans and averaged 35 minutes a game. She was outstanding on both sides of the court, averaging 10.6 Pts/G and 5.5 Reb/G while snagging 25 steals. She also played a key role in the Spartans keeping nine opponents under 50 points this season. Sariana's biggest X factor this year was her ability to come up big in clutch time, sinking three game winners in the final minute.
Audrey Ramsey - All-SSC Third Team: In her final year in a Spartans uniform, Audrey Ramsey (Boca Raton, Fla) shined once again. As the floor general, she led the Spartans to 25 regular season wins while leading the conference in total minutes played with 1024. Ramsey also led the conference in total assists with 133 to go along with averaging 10.3 Pts/G and 4.3 Reb/G. Her steller play throughout the year helped the Spartans be one of the most efficient and disciplined teams in the country. Audrey will leave Tampa as the all-time career leader in games won, games played, and with a deep NCAA run could also break the assist record.
The Spartans season is far from over as the team is in the middle of a Sunshine State Tournament run. They will face Nova Southeastern on Thursday, March 6th at 7:00pm in the Bob Martinez Center.
