NCAA Quarterfinal Preview: Tampa to Face Florida Southern for Third Time This Season

LAKELAND, Fla. - Tampa women's lacrosse is set for its second straight NCAA Quarterfinal. 

The Matchup: No. 2 University of Tampa (16-3, 6-1 SSC) vs. No. 1 Florida Southern (16-4, 7-0 SSC)

About the Spartans: The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team is coming off an 11-10 victory over the Lynn Fighting Knights which propelled the program to its second straight NCAA Quarterfinal. The Spartans and Mocs have faced off this season twice and will go head to head once more when the two teams square off on Saturday. Each program has tallied a victory this season with Tampa besting Florida Southern the last time out to clinch the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Championship. Senior, Cece Colombo is an assist away from becoming the program's all-time career leader. Colombo currently sits tied for first with 95 career assists.

About the Mocs: The Mocs won its first round matchup over Flagler in double overtime after graduate student, Jackie Stoller netted the game-winner to put FSC in the NCAA Quarterfinals. Florida Southern will welcome Tampa to Berend Field for the third time this season as the Mocs have faced the Spartans on home turf all year. Both matchups this year have been one-goal margins. These two programs matched up in the NCAA Quarterfinals a year ago but it was on Tampa's home soil where Florida Southern prevailed. Tampa hopes to flip the script this year.
