Miami Shores, Fla. - The third-ranked University of Tampa women's soccer team was handed a 1-0 loss to Barry in a Sunshine State Conference matchup. The Spartans, who entered the contest on a school-record nine-game winning streak, fall to 12-2 on the season and 5-1 in the SSC.
The Buccaneers capitalized on a free kick in the 43rd minute following a Tampa foul. The Spartans, who outshot Barry 20-6, failed to respond as goalkeeper Kelly Tryson made eight saves to key the Buccaneer victory.
Tampa returns to action on Sunday as it faces Lynn in Boca Raton. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 1:00 pm.
