NSCAA Recognizes Two Spartans as All-Americans
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's soccer team had a school-record two players selected to the NSCAA All-American team. Shannon Aitken was a second-team selection while Shelby Kuni was named to the third team. Tampa, who previously had just two players named All-Americans in program history, doubled its number of selections and has now had an All-American two straight years after Samantha Robinson was chosen last season.
Aitken, a junior goalkeeper from Land O'Lakes, Fla., becomes the first second-team NSCAA All-American in school history as the others were third teamers. She posted an 18-3-1 record this season while registering 11 shutouts, including three in the NCAA tournament. While posting a 0.63 GAA, she allowed just 14 goals while recording 54 saves.
Kuni, a sophomore forward from Houston, Texas, set a UT and Sunshine State Conference record with 26 goals. While starting all 22 matches, Kuni also tallied six assists and 58 points, which is also a Tampa record. She also tied a school record with seven game-winning goals.
