Tampa’s Offensive Attack Too Much for Eckerd
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (11-5-1, 5-1-1) women's soccer team picked up a Sunshine State Conference victory as it cruised to a 6-0 victory over visiting Eckerd College (4-12, 0-8 SSC).
Freshman Jazmin Perry played a part in UT's first three goals, beginning with Tampa's first goal of the contest by fellow freshman Samantha Kay at the 27:14. Perry scored the Spartans next goal to give her team a 2-0 lead heading into the half. The goal came in the 33rd minute. Kay and Courntey Evans assisted UT's second goal.
Perry struck for her second goal of the contest when she connected in the ninth minute of the second half. Evans picked up her second assist of the evening and her team-leading 12th assist on the score. With two goals and an assist, Perry set a personal best in goals and points (5).
Just 30 seconds after the Perry goal, Brittney Evans scored on a header from Shelby Kuni. That was followed by a pair of Kuni goals as UT's all-time leading goal scorer recorded her eighth and ninth goals of the year to pace the team. Martha Bromfield assisted Kuni's first goal while freshmen Ansley Waller and Christine Walters notched an assist on the sixth goal of the evening.
Kendall Bourdon started in goal and played the first half while Caitlin Fox entered for the second half. Bourdon tallied UT's lone save of the contest as UT outshot the Tritons 29-3.
Tampa returns to action in its final regular season game as it hosts Florida Tech on Thursday at 7 p.m. The match will also serve as senior night for UT.
