UT to Host Quarterfinal as SSC Unveils Tournament Pairings
TAMPA, Fla. - The defending NCAA II national champion University of Tampa women's soccer team is set to begin its postseason play in the quarterfinals of the 2008 Sunshine State Conference tournament. The third-seed Spartans will host six-seed Florida Tech on Tuesday at 7 p.m., at Pepin Stadium.
A total of six teams are slated to compete in the 2008 Sunshine State Conference Women's Soccer Championship, with quarterfinal action scheduled for Tuesday, November 4. The top two seeds will both receive first round byes. The semifinals will be played Friday, November 7, and the finals will be contested on Sunday, November 9.
Having clinched the first conference title in program history, Rollins (14-0-3, 7-0-1 SSC) has earned the No. 1 seed and will host the semifinals and finals in Winter Park. As the top seed, the Tars receive a quarterfinal round bye.
Florida Southern (13-4, 7-1) is the No. 2 seed and also receives a bye for quarterfinal action. In Tuesday's quarterfinals, No. 3 Tampa (12-5-1, 6-1-1) will host No. 6 Florida Tech (11-6, 3-5). The winner of the match will take on Florida Southern in Friday's semifinals.
Also on Tuesday, No. 4 Saint Leo (14-4, 5-3) will host No. 5 Lynn (10-5-2, 3-4-1). The match winner will face Rollins in semifinal action.
